Exposhipping Expomaritt Istanbul Gathered the Representatives of the Global
Maritime Industry for the 16th Time   

EExposhipping Istanbul 16th International Maritime Exhibition & Conference hosted the Representatives of the Global Maritime Industry at Viaport Marina Tuzla between November 30 and December 03. 153 companies and 476 brands from 36 countries participated in the Exhibition organized by Informa Markets on behalf of Turkish Chamber of Shipping and 6.389 people from 54 countries visited the Exhibition.  

Tamer Kıran, Chairman of the Board Turkish Chamber of Shipping said:  “We gathered the maritime sector at Expomaritt Exposhipping Istanbul after a two and a half-year break. I have firm belief that Expomaritt Exposhipping which proved to be extremely successful and efficient at a time when the rules of the game of international trade are redefined, will provide major contributions in respect of turning Istanbul into an international shipbuilding hub.”

Exposhipping Expomaritt Istanbul, the only shipbuilding and subsidiary industry exhibition of Turkey organized on behalf of Turkish Chamber of
Shipping gathered -after a two and a half-year break- the global maritime industry professionals at Viaport Marina Tuzla for trade and export purposes between November 30 and December 03. New business networks were established and deals were concluded during the exhibition which brought together major purchasers of the maritime sector from 54 countries.

THE MOST SUCCESSFUL AND EFFICIENT EXHIBITION OF THE RECENT YEARS  

Exposhipping Expomaritt Istanbul Exhibition Director Esin Aslıhan Göksel, “After a rather long break, we gathered the representatives of the global maritime sector with the representatives of the Turkish Shipbuilding and subsidiary industry for a duration of 4 days at Viaport Marina Tuzla between November 30 and December 03.  153 companies from 36 countries exhibited in the exhibition with 476 brands. The participants mostly came from Germany, the U.K., the U.S., the Netherlands, Denmark, China, Norway, South Korea, Italy, and Spain.  Despite the conditions of the pandemic, the companies that participated in the exhibition engaged in major commercial collaboration efforts with international visitors from 54 countries during these last days of the year 2021. The feedback that we receive from the participants and the visitors show that Exposhipping Expomaritt Istanbul is one of the most efficient exhibitions of the recent years. We are glad for the entire sector. We have already initiated the preparations to gather the representatives of the maritime sector over an area of 10 thousand m2 in Spring 2023.”

Göksel thanked all sponsors, institutions, agencies, media partners, and exhibitors and visitors who provided contributions to Exposhipping Expomaritt Istanbul, primarily to Turkish Chamber of Shipping.

 

THE MOST IMPORTANT EXHIBITION OF THE MARITIME SECTOR  
Starting his remarks with the words: “We gathered the maritime sector at Expomaritt Exposhipping Istanbul after a two and a half-year break.” Tamer Kıran, Chairman of the Board of Turkish Chamber of Shipping said: “We have to consider the maritime sector as a whole and ensure its growth in every field at a time when the rules of international trade are redefined. It is of great importance that we raise our trade fleet capacity to 50 million DWT, and equip our shipyards with cutting-edge technology.  Expomaritt Exposhipping Istanbul, supported by our Chamber as the most important exhibition of the maritime sector assumes an important mission for our members promoting the
products and services, increasing their brand popularity, and creating new business contacts.

As Turkish Chamber of Shipping attribute importance to such events primarily to Expomaritt Exposhipping Istanbul, and provide support as much as we can.  The sector convening after an inevitable break during the pandemic both strengthened us and lifted our spirits. Our members seized major opportunities in further developing their relations and establishing new contacts. I have firm belief that Expomaritt Exposhipping which attracted numerous international visitors, will provide major contributions to turning Istanbul into a shipbuilding hub.”

CHAIRPERSONS OF THE SECTORAL INSTITUTIONS PATICIPATED IN THE EXHIBITION

The leading chairpersons of the sectoral institutions also participated in Expomaritt Exposhipping Istanbul. Durmuş Ünüvar, Director General of Coastal Security, Salih Tan, Director General of Shipyards and Coastal Structures, Tamer Kıran Chairman of the Board  of Turkish Chamber of Shipping, Murat Kıran, Chairman of the Board of Turkish
Shipbuilders’ Association (GİSBİR), Cem Seven, Chairman of the Board of the Turkish Ship, Yacht, and Marine Services Exporters’ Association (GYİHB), Başaran Bayrak,
Acting Chairman of the Turkish Exporters’ Assembly (TİM),  Salih Zeki Çakır Turkish Chamber of Shipping, as well as several invitees, participants, and press members also participated in the exhibition.    

WE HAVE THE CAPABILITY TO COMPETE WITH THE ENTIRE WORLD  

Noting that several things have changed in a rather short time in the world, Atilla Marangozoğlu, the Informa Markets General Manager said: “The current pandemic that we
live at global scale has once again shown that the maritime sector plays a vital role for ensuring the continuity of the supply chain. We believe and know that given its high-quality labor force and manufacturing capacity at European standards, the Turkish Shipbuilding Industry holds the capability to compete with the leading countries in the maritime sector in the new shipbuilding, ship maintenance-repair, and defense industry projects. Gathering the global maritime sector under a single roof,  Exposhipping
 Expomaritt Istanbul will continue to gather the Turkish Shipbuilding and Subsidiary Industry with the new markets and raise competitive edge.”   

WE KNOW THAT WE CAN DO MUCH BETTER THAN THIS 

Pointing out the trend towards Turkish maritime sector becoming a brand,  Durmuş Ünüvar, Director General of Coastal Security, stated that “The Ministry is developing
policies, streamlining legal arrangements, and that they can do much better than this.”    

TURKEY IS A COUNTRY THAT HAS A SAY IN SHIPBUILDING INDUSTRY

Proudly saying that the beauties of the Expomaritt Exposhipping Istanbul exhibition ground bear importance in respect of showing the current status of the sector, Turkish
Shipbuilders’ Association (GİSBİR) Chairman Murat Kıran said: “The recent developments in the sector ensured Turkey to have a say in the global shipbuilding industry.  I consider myself a host, as someone born in Tuzla/Istanbul, and would like to extend my thanks to each and everyone of you. Tuzla has a nice geographic location and may turn into an exhibition hub. I therefore would thank everyone who made efforts to organize this event.”   

EXHIBITIONS BEAR IMPORTANCE FOR THE GLOBAL ECONOMY  

Thanking the Turkish Chamber of Shipping for the support to the organization of Expomaritt Exposhipping Istanbul Cem Seven, Chairman of the Board of the Turkish Ship, Yacht, and Marine Services Exporters’ Association (GYİHB) stated that they attribute great importance to participation in both domestic and international exhibitions, and added that such exhibitions are extremely effective in respect of the global economy.      

INNOVATION IN THE MARITIME SECTOR WAS DISCUSSED AT MARINE TALKS 

Exposhipping Istanbul, 16th International Maritime Exhibition & Conference also hosted seminal events for the maritime sector. The latest technological developments were shared through the presentations of the exhibition participants and specialists at the “Marine Talks” stage, and new products and brands were promoted. 16 speakers shared information and experience during the 3-day long event.    

WOMEN ENGAGED IN MARITIME SECTOR MET AT EXPOMARITT EXPOSHIPPING ISTANBUL

Women’s International Shipping and Trading Association (WISTA Turkey) gathered the female professionals of the global maritime sector at its traditional breakfast on the last day of Expomaritt Exposhipping Istanbul.  Suzan Atasoy, Deputy Chairwoman of the Board of WISTA Turkey delivering a speech at the event expressed their intention to
bring all sector professionals under one single roof, and stressed that WISTA Turkey supports the girls who receive maritime training through its scholarships.   

THE HEALTH OF THE PARTICIPANTS AND VISITORS WAS AT THE CENTER OF EXPOSHIPPING EXPOMARITT ISTANBUL

The participants and visitors entered the Exposhipping Expomaritt Istanbul Exhibition with their HES Codes and masks. Apart from the measures implemented by Turkey, AllSecure Standards developed by Informa, world’s largest event organizer that cover the principles of “Cleanliness and Hygiene”, “Physical Distance”, and “Track and Protect” were applied to ensure a healthy and safe exhibition environment.
